Student Government Explores the Nature of Leadership
Six students and their advisor, Mrs. Annette Harris, attended the 86th North Carolina Association of Student Councils (NCASC) State Convention March 24-26 at Douglas Byrd High School in Fayetteville. Matthew Griffin, Sarah Wylie, Caitlin Herlihy, Elizabeth Brewer, Jessica Prince, and Abbey Mills participated in a variety of activities including workshops to enhance leadership skills, general sessions with motivational speakers, a banquet and awards ceremony to recognize outstanding achievements by school student councils and individuals and even a fun night of roller skating.

Eleven students recently visited Wingate University to tour the campus and visit with a panel of international students as part of International Day 2012. In addition to the panel discussion, students received a tour of the Wingate University campus that included their Student Center, where flags of countries were displayed representing places that Wingate students had visited through Winternational and Study Abroad programs. Five international athletes representing South Africa, Germany, France, Sweden, and Brazil also spoke about their culture and some of the difficulties they encountered when they came to the U.S. for school.
