Tradd Medford was voted Piedmont's Teacher of theYear for 2010-2011. Mr. Medford teaches AP Chemistry, Physics, and Physical Science. In addition to teaching, he also serves as the faculty advisor for JETS (Junior Engineering and Technical Society) and the Science Olympiad team. Mr. Medford has been a member of the Piedmont staff for 11 years and graduated from NC State University.
Mr. Medford is a gifted teacher in advanced Science subjects such as Physics and Advanced Placement level Chemistry. In addition to the honors courses, he also team teaches Physical Science with Exceptional Children's teacher Glenn Sutton. He has a unique ability to reach all levels of students. Mr. Medford strives to ensure that all students succeed and can thus be found tutoring students before and after school and during his planning period!
When asked about receiving the honor of Teacher of the Year, Mr. Medford responded that "It is my hope that the world becomes increasingly better through the power of the classroom. Implied is the great charge on the part of the classroom teacher, that solid character is modeled, learning for the sake of discovering a gift, and none be excluded."
Mr. Medford will not advance to the County level of the Teacher of the Year competition. Congratulations, Mr. Medford, on being selected as Piedmont High School's Teacher of the Year!
